Remember all of those old games that you used to play in the 70’s and 80’s. There was Pac-Man, Asteroids, Centipede, Galaga, and many more. All of those games were something new and fun to play. I remember playing all of those games and Atari and though, “There is no way that any other gaming system is going to top this”. Well, I was extremely wrong. Over the years, better gaming systems with better graphics came out. You had the 8-bit NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), then the two 16-bit systems that were SNES (Super Nintendo) and the Sega Genesis. Then, there was the Sega Saturn, a 32-bit system which destroyed Nintendo’s 16-bit System. Then came the 64-bit era, the debut of Sony’s first system that was called Playstation, and Nintendo having a new system called N64 (Nintendo 64). Both of these systems revolutionized the gaming industry by introducing 3-D graphics. That’s right, no more side scrollers. You were able to move wherever you want. In my opinion, I think Playstation was the better system.
Playstation also introduced the use of discs instead of cartridges. Playstation would soon unveil Playstation 2 which would topple Microsoft’s debut system, the Xbox in sales, and would destroy Nintendo’s new system called the Nintendo Gamecube. With each year, Playstation 2’s games would have even better and better graphics. Although there were some really good looking games in 2001 when Playstation 2 released like Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and other games. Now you look back at Atari and other old gaming systems and say, “Wow, I can’t believe that I thought that no other gaming system would top Atari”. How deep the developers go into the game is amazing, making sure they do every little detail. Almost everyone around the world enjoy playing Playstation 2 games. The question is, do you have the most up-to-date games?
If you’re reading this, then you probably a big Playstation 2 fan? I bet most of you were shocked when the console came out, just like I was. Especially since you can play DVD’s on your PS2. Yeah, you don’t even need to go out and purchase a DVD player when it is right in front of you. This was an option that I loved. I remember going over to my brothers’ home and checking out his PS2 and the latest games that he had. I was extremely shocked when I saw such real graphics and visuals. I was so shocked that I thought the games visuals looked to real to be a video game. The people in the games have facial expressions and detail all over their body, unlike the old Atari games. That’s right, no more 2-D scrolling guys and no more 2-D backgrounds. There was a variety of games that I had the privilege to play. Who wouldn’t love a great video game?
Today, most of the kids in America enjoy playing their PS2 games that they own. The can fight with their friends on the game or battle the computer if they want. If you’re friend can’t come over, you can still play with him via PS2 online. This lets you hook up to the internet with your PS2 and play with other people across America in your favorite games. PS2 online is not like Xbox’s “Xbox Live”. For Xbox Live, you have to pay an annual fee, but with PS2, it is free to hook up to the internet. Another great thing about PS2 is that there is a variety of options. PS2 is backwards compatible, meaning that you can play your old PS1 games on your PS2. How cool is that? If you want to buy new or used games, then you should check out your local EB games or Gamestop. EB Games and Gamestop even let you trade in games that you don’t play or you just don’t want anymore for store credit, which can let you buy more games. If you don’t have a PS2 yet, then what are you doing reading this? Go out and get one! |
